Raise your hand if one of your New Year's resolutions is to "be more organized". If you have a hand (or two) in the air, we're pretty sure you came to the right place. It's the year of less, but better. Where function meets fashion. Of quantity over quantity. Join The Organizing Store on the road to simple sophistication and let's make every day easier, full of productivity and your best year ever.

As two girls who have always lived a pretty obsessively organized life and while there are loads of rules to leading a clean, well-organized lifestyle, we can tell you the real secret sauce to being organized are these few basic rules we live by: 1. Create a place for everything and keep everything in its place. 2. Keep only the things you need, matter most or make you genuinely happy. We repeat, genuinely. You don't have to give up your very favorite things, just learn how to store, organize or display them. 3. Never (ever) say "later". Later is a not a good habit, so let's promise to stay away from that word.

Keys and sunglasses don't get set on the counter "temporarily", clothes aren't thrown on the floor until "tomorrow", makeup isn't left on the vanity because your in a "rush" and at no time is a glass left in the kitchen sink until "later". Begin your road to being more organized with "mini-changes" and smaller projects so that you're not overwhelmed. Make each change a habit and you'll be on the road to success. It takes some getting used to, but you'll get the hang of it. And remember, it's not about procrastinating, it's about priorities. If you want to be NEAT, make it your priority. It will happen and good things will come your way.

Before you begin any actual projects, let's get you started with some basic productivity tools you're going to need this year:

  1. Agenda: To plan and manage your days, weeks, months, schedule and social calendar.
  2. Notepad Set: This one is a to-do lister’s dream come true; 3 pads/3 sizes.
  3. To Do List Pads: Keep one on your desk, in the kitchen, and by your bedside or wherever you do most of your thinking.
  4. Acrylic File Box : For everyone that loves acrylic and to keep papers off your desk or countertop.

Now that you have the tools, let's get them working for you. Prepare your agenda, adding in dates, appointments, meetings and social events. Make lists for upcoming projects, events and shopping needs. Always have a clipboard handy. Organize your notebooks alphabetically or chronologically. Create a mail station to separate or organize bills and daily mail. Be prepared with pencils, pens, pouches and bins. Designate a filing zone to file mail and important docs. Apply labels to bins, boxes, jars, and any storage items, to find what you need when you need it.
